Underwater Window
Underwater Window • Editorial Illustration and Motion Design
Project type: Editorial illustration, Concept art and 2D animation
Tools used: Procreate and Adobe Photoshop
The project and concept
Underwater Window is a personal illustration project inspired by curiosity about the hidden world beneath the ocean's surface.
Blending surrealism with elements of underwater exploration, the artwork depicts an architectural window surrounded by a marine ecosystem, creating a visual connection between human curiosity and the mysterious depths of the ocean.
Art direction and animation
The visual direction combines deep oceanic tones, carefully constructed perspective and organic textures to create a sense of depth, atmosphere and quiet mystery.
The illustration was further developed into a looping 2D animation, bringing the underwater scene to life through subtle movement. Animated water particles, beams of light (god rays) and marine elements create the impression of a living underwater environment, adding depth and movement to the original composition.
This project explores the possibilities of combining editorial illustration and motion design, transforming a static artwork into an animated visual experience for digital platforms.
